Welcome to the Phoenix Perinatal Associates (PPA) Pregnancy Co-Management Program. Pregnancy Co-Management occurs when a patient has multiple visits with a maternal-fetal specialist (MFM) during their pregnancy, while their primary obstetrical physician provides routine prenatal care. Patients can rely on our high-risk expertise to help them through any circumstances their physician wishes us to assist with during their pregnancy, while their primary provides prenatal care and delivery.
Commonly co-managed conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Diabetes
- Chronic Hypertension
- History of Premature Delivery
- Fetal Abnormalities
- History of Fetal Demise
- History of Preeclampsia
- Cervical Insufficiency
- Twin Pregnancy or Multiple Gestation
Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Who Will Deliver My Baby? A: We anticipate that your delivery will be performed by your primary doctor at the hospital of your choice. Due to some maternal and fetal conditions, your care and delivery may be performed by PPA at one of the following hospitals: Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Banner Desert Medical Center or Scottsdale Shea Hospital.
Q: Who Do I Call If I Am Experiencing a Problem? A: Please contact your primary doctor for all routine prenatal questions. If you experience a problem related to your high-risk condition, please contact our triage nurse at (602) 280-9609.
Q: What Test May Be Performed at My Primary Doctor's Office? A: Routine tests may be requested at your primary doctor's office, including prenatal labs, 3rd trimester labs and Group B Strep. Testing that is specific to high-risk medical conditions may be ordered by our specialists. We will contact you and your primary doctor with these results.
Q: How Often Will I Be Seen by PPA? A: This will depend on your history and the condition for which you are being seen. You may have appointments weekly, biweekly or monthly.
Q: Does My Insurance Cover This Program? A: We accept most health plans. You may be required to pay a co-pay at each visit. Please check with your individual insurance policy for details.
Q: How Do We Get Started? A: Your primary doctor will refer you to our practice for an initial consultation. If your doctor and our specialist determine that you are a candidate for our Pregnancy Co-Management Program, our office will arrange the necessary follow-up visits, ultrasounds and antenatal testing required for your care.
