Dr. Allare holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and a medical doctorate from Northwestern University Medical School. In addition to pediatric training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she completed fellowship training at the University of California-San Diego. A practicing neonatologist in Phoenix, Arizona since 1987, she is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-practice medicine.
Her professional interests include long-term outcomes of NICU graduates, and her research has primarily focused on risk factors and outcomes for infants with periventricular leukomalacia. She has also worked to create a coordinated neurodevelopmental follow-up system throughout Arizona, which then became the foundation for the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AZEIP).
Dr. Allare’s vast clinical interests include family-centered care and bioethics. She has also served as a board member for Raising Special Kids, an organization providing parents with peer support and specialized information to cope with the issues of parenting a child with special needs. More recently, she became a faculty member of the Brazelton Institute at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Allare has also provided invaluable training at NICUs nationwide in Newborn Behavioral Observation, a neurological tool that promotes infant-parent attachment, and the focus of her current research endeavors. She joined Phoenix Perinatal Associates, an affiliate of Obstetrix Medical Group, in October 2005.
